Celtic Lands Newswire   Thu Dec 23, 2010 7:43 am

Sometimes, time is short, but you need to get information across quickly and to the point. Some players want to involve their countries in a conflict or negotiation but don't have the time or patience to write out character dialogue or plat development every time they post. Some players don't like RP altogether but like to keep their countries involved in what's going on. Others just want the world to know what is happening in their countries without the need to write newspaper articles.

That is where the Celtic Lands Newswire (CLN) comes into it. If you're somebody who isn't into role-play but still wants to participate in regional events, then this thread can be used for that too. It allows you to keep up to date, as well as keep involved in events without the need for such things as character dialogue.

Post anything you like, but keep it to a few sentences or a brief paragraph.

(OOC: This is a good idea. I'll probably post trimmed-down versions of my newspaper articles here for people who don't want to bother reading the full ones in my RP forum.)

Rumours are flying in the capital about the supposed colonisation of the continent to the northeast, past the Awendan Isle. The name, leaked by an unnamed informant close to the Queen, is to be Trousseaux, after the current Defence minister who is apparently championing the cause..

  • Comhaontas Glas na Boirne (Boireann Green Party) announces it is unilaterally withdrawing from the Government of Boireann, forcing the Páirtí na Poblachta (Republican Party) to govern in a minority government. There are already rumours circulating that the opposition Páirtí an Lucht Oibre (Labour Party) could try and bring down the government with a vote of no confidence.

  • The Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Boireann, Peter O'Shaughnessy, concedes that his minority Republican Party can no longer govern the country. Shortly after 2pm, he made his way to the President's residency at Cnoc House and asked for a dissolution of Oireachtas (Parliament). The election shall take place on 2 March 2011.

The colony on a distant continent has been confirmed: it is, in fact, to be named Aveniere, after the current ruling family, and be officially annexed later today.

  • Taoiseach Peter O'Shaughnessy has faced questions in Oireactas (Parliament) over why his government made no comment on SaV's annexation of foreign lands. Other party leaders have criticised SaV's move, saying such has no "international legal grounds".

  • Election: polls out today show Boireann an Chéad (Boireann First) growing in support. The party was formed after the last election (in 2007) from politicians across the board dissatisfied with the direction of the country. Meanwhile, the ruling Republican Party is down in the polls.
    Labour Party - 31% (-4%)
    Boireann First - 20% (+20%)
    Republican Party - 18% (-20%)
Conservative Party - 18% (no change)
    Green Party - 8% (-2%)
    Others - 5% (no change)

  • Stephen O'Cleary is named the new Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Boireann following the 2011 general election. O'Cleary is the leader of Boireann an Chéad (Boireann First) which has now formed a coalition with the Páirtí Coimeádach (Conservative Party). Between them, they hold a majority of seats in the Dáil na Boirne (Assembly of Boireann) and thus can form a stable government.

  • The news comes as the Republican Party and Labour Party failed to materialise the idea of a "grand coalition" between the two parties. O'Cleary is the youngest Taoiseach in history by some margin and has promised revolutionary reform and radical transformation for the nation following years of political dissatisfaction.
